On behalf of the NNAS Board of Directors, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Siu Mee Cheng as Executive Director of the National Nursing Assessment Service (www.nnas.ca) effective June 22, 2015.
As Executive Director Siu Mee will provide leadership and direction to NNAS in implementing the strategy and policy decisions of the Board including oversight and management of all financial, contractual and administrative aspects of operations.
“The work of NNAS continues to evolve and grow beyond all expectations” said Mary-Anne Robinson, Chair of the Board. “The Board is very pleased to have engaged such a qualified leader for this role as NNAS transitions into core operations. Siu Mee will build on a very solid foundation and with experience spanning over 19 years’ in the public and health services sectors, she will be a great asset to the organization.”
Siu Mee Cheng says “I am looking forward to working with the Board, staff, partners and other key stakeholders to furthering the success and impact of this innovative initiative that is contributing towards the very important issue of health human resourcing within the various member provinces. Most importantly is the development of foundational relationships with our owners and ensuring IENs are well served in the process.”
A great deal of Siu Mee’s work has been national, working within multi-jurisdictional models including Alberta Health, the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care, Cancer Care Ontario, Canadian Partnership Against Cancer Corporation, Toronto Central Palliative Care Network and the Ontario Public Health Association.
Siu Mee has a breadth of experience in leadership, administrative, policy, research, evaluation, and service delivery roles all with a focus on driving performance, quality, accountability and enhancing customer care. She holds a Master in Health Sciences, Community Health Program (Occupational Hygiene Stream) from the University of Toronto, a Bachelor in Applied Science in Environmental Health (Public Health Stream) through Ryerson Polytechnic University and holds a CHE designation with the Canadian College of Health Leaders, Certified Health Executive Program.
